Trevon Diggs returned to action for the first time since landing on injured reserve ahead of Week 7 after suffering an incident at home. Unsurprisingly, the Cowboys’ defense didn’t show up against the Los Angeles Chargers, and Diggs looked largely uninvolved. Dallas paid the price in an ugly 34–17 loss.
Diggs has gone back and forth with the Cowboys' coaching staff. Even Brian Schottenheimer called out his All-Pro cornerback, calling on him to be more consistent. Before Week 16, the Cowboys obviously saw something in Diggs when they decided not to play him, even when he looked to be ready.
Cowboys play-by-play radio broadcaster Brad Sham and Cowboys insider Bryan Broaddus joined the postgame coverage on 105.3 The Fan, and their analysis confirmed what many fans already believed about Trevon Diggs’ feelings toward the organization: he hasn’t wanted to be in Dallas for quite some time.
Cowboys insider says Trevon Diggs doesn't want to really play in Dallas
Sham noted that when Diggs was asked whether he wanted to play in Dallas, he took a noticeably more conservative approach with the media. He then asked Broaddus whether he believed Diggs still wanted to be part of America’s Team, before following up with a more pointed question about whether the All-Pro cornerback had truly wanted to be here over the past three weeks.
"Absolutely not," Broaddus answered.
Diggs didn’t bring much energy, and it showed when he was at the center of a busted coverage that resulted in an easy touchdown for Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey. When asked about getting burned on the play, Diggs once again took aim at Matt Eberflus' Cover 2 scheme.

Diggs has a history of jabbing Eberflus, which is part of the reason some in the local media believe this may have been his final game at AT&T Stadium. And to be candid, his play this season hasn’t come close to justifying keeping his contract on the books
The former All-Pro's elite ball skills set the stage for a breakout season in 2021, but that was four years ago. Over the past couple of seasons, Diggs has become much less reliable in coverage without the ball production to match. The disconnect with both Eberlfus and the front office hasn't helped, and it feels that the synergy between Diggs and the fan base has run its course.
After the Chargers game, Diggs acknowledged it could have been his final home game in Dallas, even as he has previously expressed interest in staying. While the relationship between Diggs and the Joneses may already be beyond repair, all signs point to him having played his last home game in a Cowboys uniform.
