It's not often that the Dallas Cowboys find themselves as home underdogs, but they are 0-2 at AT&T Stadium this season compared to 3-0 on the road. When a team is navigating as many injuries as the Cowboys, it's not really a shock that the Detroit Lions are favored to win.

It really is hard to come to terms with Dallas' injury list. Jerry Jones offered a glimmer of hope regarding Micah Parsons' status for the game, but Parsons did not practice all week.

It was never expected that Parsons would play, but the Cowboys were hit with some brutal injury updates throughout the week. All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland was not activated off injured reserve despite returning to practice Wednesday and Thursday. Bland will have to wait to make his season debut.

Eric Kendricks is another huge loss. As the defense's field general, he calls the defense and gets players into the right spot. Kendricks leads the Cowboys with 52 tackles and is second on the team with two sacks. He also has an interception and a forced fumble.

Nick Vigil, who played under Mike Zimmer with the Vikings, is Dallas' backup middle linebacker. He is active after not practicing all week due to a foot injury. Cowboys fans should expect Vigil to wear the green light as the defensive play-caller.

In addition to Vigil, DeMarvion Overshown, Marist Liufau and Damone Clark will all rotate at linebacker in Kendricks' stead. Safety Markquese Bell is a strong candidate for snaps as well. This could be a game where Zimmer gets creative with his safeties to fill the void in the second level of the defense.

No Caelen Carson means the Cowboys will be down two cornerbacks, their top four defensive ends, starting middle linebacker.

Illness

The Lions have been fortunate on the injury front over the first five weeks. Their only question mark was All-Pro center Frank Ragnow, who missed Week 4 with a pec strain. He practiced in full on Friday and is off the injury report.

Detroit will also get star defensive back Brian Branch back. An illness sidelined Branch in Week 4, but he practiced all week and is good to go.

The Cowboys are severely undermanned. This might be a game where Dak Prescott has to play perfect for Dallas to have a chance.
