Already destined for a disappointing finish in 2024, the Dallas Cowboys learned on Saturday that quarterback Dak Prescott is likely to undergo season-ending surgery on his partially-torn hamstring.
Prescott will travel to New York next week for a final opinion on his hamstring. The Cowboys expect that it will lead to season-ending surgery. At the very least, Prescott is looking at a 6-8 week recovery period. If he requires surgery, his season would be over.
It will be the Cooper Rush show Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, though team owner Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan that the Cowboys have a package for newly-minted backup Trey Lance. We'll see if that comes to fruition, but there is other notable injury news to cover before kickoff.

All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons will make his long-awaited return on Sunday. Parsons hasn't played since he suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 4. Parsons should provided a huge spark to a pass rush that has been non-existent since he's been out of the lineup.
Cowboys' Week 10 inactives
Player | Position | Injury | Status |
---|---|---|---|
DaRon Bland | CB | Foot | OUT |
Dak Prescott | QB | Ankle | OUT |
Juanyeh Thomas | S | Concussion | OUT |
Tyler Guyton | LT | Neck | Out |
Deuce Vaughn | RB | - | OUT |
K.J. Henry | DE | - | OUT |
Jonathan Mingo | WR | - | OUT |
The Cowboys listed cornerback Trevon Diggs, linebacker Eric Kendricks, tackle Tyler Guyton and linebacker Nick Vigil as questionable.
Guyton popped up on the injury report with a neck injury late in the week. ESPN's Todd Archer reported moments ago that Guyton will be inactive. 2023 fifth-round pick Asim Richards filld in at left tackle in Week 9 when Guyton missed a few players so he is seemingly the favorite to start.
Diggs and Kendricks are expected to play, but DaRon Bland will miss his ninth straight game after undergoing foot surgery before the season.
Bland look primed to return in Week 6, but he suffered a setback in practice and has not logged a practice since. His 21-day practice window was activated a month ago. Bland has still not played this season after he led the NFL in interceptions and pick-sixes last year.
Eagles' Week 10 inactives
Player | Position | Injury | Status |
---|---|---|---|
Tanner McKee | QB | - | Emergency QB3 |
Ben VanSumeren | LB/FB | Concussion | Questionable |
Eli Ricks | CB | - | OUT |
Tristin McCullom | S | - | OUT |
Darian Kinnard | OL | - | OUT |
Trevon Keegan | OG | - | OUT |
The Eagles' roster could not be more healthy. While receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith were listed on the injury report early in the week with knee and hamstring injuries, they were removed from the report and are good to go.
The only player on Philly's injury report is linebacker/fullback Ben VanSumeren, who is expected to play despite being questionable with a concussion.
The odds are stacked against Dallas in today's rivalry game. While Rush has helped the Cowboys remain competitive in the past without Prescott - and the Eagles have a penchant for shooting themselves in the foot - the only way this matchup remains close is if the defense comes to play.
