There has been a lot to like over the first week and a half of Dallas Cowboys training camp. Unfortunately, injuries have really cut into that excitement. While the offensive line has already seen two players go down, the secondary - specifically the cornerback position - is in a much worse spot.

It was revealed this week that Caelen Carson will miss 4-6 weeks after hyperextending his knee in practice. If you thought that was bad news, the Cowboys now have clarity on rookie Shavon Revel's return timeline, and it is not ideal.

Revel's father told 105.3 The Fan on Thursday that the 24-year-old faces another 6-8 weeks in his recovery from a torn ACL suffered last September at East Carolina.

More brutal news for the Cowboys.

Revel has experienced discomfort during rehab sessions in training camp, per Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

A video shared on social media by Tommy Yarrish of the Cowboys' official website showed Revel coming up gimpy during a ball-tracking drill. While Revel didn't look that way on every rep, it seemed apparent he isn’t close to returning

The Cowboys were optimistic that Revel would be able to return at some point in training camp. As much as this puts the cornerback room in flux for Week 1, it makes sense to be cautious with the rookie. A lot of teams, including Dallas, had a first-round grade on Revel based on his talent.

The injury caused him to slide to the third round, but Revel is clearly someone who will be a massive part of the secondary once he's healthy. Even with Trevon Diggs and Josh Butler working their way back from major knee injuries, there is no need to rush Revel back.

This secondary has the potential to be dangerous. As currently constructed, though, it could be among the weakest in the NFL on paper by the time Week 1 rolls around, assuming Diggs and Butler won't make it back in time.
