Cowboys fool fans with Trey Lance cameo as Cooper Rush continues to flounder
By Mike Luciano
The Dallas Cowboys losing to the Philadelphia Eagles isn't the end of the world. In fact, it was expected. However, the fashion in which Cooper Rush soiled himself, and the Cowboys' subsequent refusal to put in Trey Lance, will make them the target of ceaseless justified mockery.
Rush was not only struggling, but he was playing so poorly that it was impossible for Dallas to operate a normal offense. Even being down 28-6 wasn't enough to get Lance in the game.
Finally, after Rush put together one of the worst halves any starting quarterback has had in decades, the Cowboys finally decided to lean on Lance. However, his time as the quarterback in Dallas lasted all of one play, as the Cowboys brought Rush back in immediately after.
Not only did nothing materialize from this drive, but the Cowboys lost possession in their own territory after a Bryce Huff strip sack. Dallas went down 31-6 after a possession that could mark the end of Rush's tenure as a starting quarterback in the NFL. Lance came in, but the fact they delayed his debut makes his usage seem all the more puzzling.

Rush was a ppathetic 13-23 for 45 yards before Lance came into the game. Notnonly does this ind of production show how bad Rush is, but it shows how horrendous this coaching staff is to not make any adjustments after Prescott's injury. Dak looks like Peyton Manning compared to Rush.
Rush's success rate of 21.1% in the first half was the sixth-worst of any quarterback half in the last three seasons. It ranked a cool 1,419th out of 1,425. At least he isn't in last place? Do Cowboys coaches actually think Lance would do a worse job under center than Rush would?
While Rush has experience under his belt, the Central Michigan product would tell you himself that Lance has more athleticism and a stronger arm. Why even acquire Lance if a situation like this presents itself and you won't even put him in? If he's that terrible, why is No. 19 on the roster?
Lance may not be particularly good, but he would at least give the Cowboys some sort of spark that Rush doesn't have. While the Eagles defense came to play today, Rush looking that terrible would make any non-terrible coaching staff flip the switch and put Lance in.
