If Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wasn't already kicking himself for the way his team's season transpired in 2025, he should be now.

As time goes on, more salt gets poured into the gaping wound that is the 2025 season for the Dallas Cowboys, a complete and utter waste of a window of opportunity. The latest of many reasons for Jones to be wallowing in regret is the surprise honor bestowed upon wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who was just added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster as an alternate.

This is Lamb's fifth-straight Pro Bowl, which in itself is another reason to be frustrated by Jones's handling of his team.

CeeDee Lamb's Pro Bowl honor makes Jerry Jones look even worse for Cowboys' failure

A wasted year of CeeDee Lamb's prime. A wasted year of Dak Prescott, who may have played the best we've ever seen him play in a Cowboys uniform this past season.

All because Jerry Jones took contract negotiations with Micah Parsons personal.

We've already seen the Cowboys admit they made some bad/wrong decisions on the defensive side of the ball by almost immediately firing defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus at the start of the offseason. The team has since replaced Eberflus with a promising up-and-coming candidate in Christian Parker, a Vic Fangio disciple who will finally be getting the chance to call plays after a lot of rumors about his potential.

But regardless of where the Cowboys are heading, the recognition for CeeDee Lamb shines more light on the fact that Jones is simply too arrogant to properly run a team that he believes is in a championship window.

Shockingly, Lamb is still only 26 years old, even though it feels like he's been in the NFL and dominating for Dallas for a decade at this point. He's been such a great model of consistency, playing at the highest level week after week.

The way the defensive situation was fumbled in 2025 cannot be overstated. Even if they had a semi-competent defense for the majority of the season, this team could have easily won the NFC East. That's ultimately the fault of nobody other than Jerry Jones.

Now, with a wasted year of an elite offense, the board has to be reset. The deck has to be reshuffled. There is no "building on" last year's success, even offensively. The Cowboys will simply have to hope that they can put together a more competent defense in 2026 and properly support the offense, which they can only hope will be just as good (or better).
