Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb had ruthless message for Austin Seibert after royal choke

This was ruthless from No. 88!

So that wasn't a fever dream? That inebriated fourth quarter wasn't scripted beforehand and acted out by the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders? Got it.

The Cowboys ended their five-game losing streak on Sunday in the most dramatic of fashions. They needed a Luke Schoonmaker touchdown, an iconic KaVontae Turpin kick return, a missed extra point and an onside kick returned for a touchdown - ok, that wasn't totally needed - to get there. But they got there.

Turpin's house call looked like the knockout punch, but Washington punched back on its next offensive play: an 86-yard strike from Jayden Daniels to Terry McLaurin.

As the home favorite, Dan Quinn played for the tie and likely overtime rather than go for two. His prudence was not rewarded as Austin Seibert missed the game-tying extra point. Juanyeh Thomas returned the ensuing onside kick for six, Daniels' Hail Mary fell short of the end zone and that was all she wrote.

The Cowboys escaped disaster by the skin of their teeth and CeeDee Lamb was fully aware of that postgame.

Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb thanked Commanders kicker Austin Seibert after missed extra point

Lamb and Seibert were teammates at Oklahoma. They most certainly are not enemies, but Lamb called it like it is.

The Commanders climbed all the way back from a two-score deficit with five minutes left in regulation. An 86-yard catch and run touchdown with 20 seconds left is what miracles are made of. All Washington needed to draw even was an extra point.

That magnitude of gaffe deserves criticism, so Lamb had full jurisdiction to shade his former teammate, even if it was done without malice intent.

Since Lamb is in the business of handing out thank you's, Cowboys fans should acknowledge FOX broadcasters Joe Davis and Greg Olsen.

On a nightmarish afternoon for Washington's special teams unit, Davis and Olsen stopped short of crowning the Commanders after McLaurin's touchdown. Olsen mentioned that Seibert had already missed an extra point and Davis reiterated the struggles of Quinn's special teams.

IT IS NO GOOD. AND THE WORST SPECIAL TEAMS DAY IN HISTORY HAS A FITTING FINISH," a stunned Davis shouted.

In all honesty, shame on all of us for not predicting the miss. We should've known THAT game would provide one last improbable twist. Sunday was a special teams horror show on both sides. That it ended via an all-time special teams blunder is almost poetic.

With all of the trash the Commanders talked before Sunday and Dan Quinn picking four former Cowboys as Washington's game captains, Lamb had to let Seibert hear it.

Again, it's unlikely Lamb meant to bury his college teammate, but thanking him was a cold-blooded move by No. 88.
