After their first four games, the Packers, Patriots, and Steelers are all sitting at 2-2. Why should we care? Well, as we've been tracking all season, these teams owe the Cowboys draft picks in 2027.
Week 4 was a good one for Dallas' eventual draft arsenal. The Steelers were surprised, albeit on the road, in a Thursday night loss to the Browns. Aaron Rodgers started to mount a signature fourth-quarter comeback, but Cleveland took a 21-10 lead into the final period and did enough to hang on for a 27-24 victory.
The Cowboys own Pittsburgh's fourth-round pick in 2027 as part of the Broderick Jones deal before the start of the season.
On Sunday, Green Bay got a crucial road win over Tampa Bay. Doing what Dallas couldn't the other night, the Packers made Jalon Daniels look like an undrafted rookie and kept Bucky Irving in check. Green Bay looked to be in disarray after a Week 3 blowout loss to Atlanta, so perhaps this positive step will get them moving in the wrong direction (for the Cowboys).
Dallas owns the Packers' first-round pick next year as one of the last pieces of the Micah Parsons trade. The better of either the Cowboys' or Packers' picks goes to the New York Jets as part of the Quinnen Williams trade.
Dallas also has claim on New England's seventh-rounder pick through the Texans. Houston previously owned the pick from another transaction, but sent it to the Cowboys for OT Nate Thomas in August.
The Patriots have been surprisingly middling so far this year, but got a huge win last week over previously undefeated Buffalo. New England is still very much an AFC contender, so don't be surprised if the value of this pick starts diminishing quickly.
Week 5 could have mixed results for Cowboys' interests
This week has a 50/50 feel to it for Dallas' draft pick debtors. The Steelers are back at home but facing the 2-2 Colts, who ran over the Commanders last week behind running backJonathan Taylor.
Things are already getting weird on Pittsburgh's sideline between Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy, which absolutely no one saw coming. If the Steelers struggle early, things could go off the rails.
Green Bay will be host the Bears in a classic rivalry game, and an incredible setting to remember Mike Ditka after his passing on Friday. That could do plenty to fuel Chicago's fire. The Packers are lucky this one is in Lambeau, but they may still be outmatched based on their shaky start to the year.
New England has its own problems against the 3-1 Raiders. Vegas has been strong so far, winning its first three games and losing by just three points to Kansas City last week. This one probably comes down to the QB duel between the Patriots' Drake Maye, who's struggled up until last week, and the Raiders' revitalized Kirk Cousins.
