The Dallas Cowboys are one of many teams in the 2025 NFL Draft who will place a premium on speed among their skill position players. In a weak wide receiver class, Texas burner Isaiah Bond might be a player who could end up as a Day 2 pick with tremendous upside.
Bond is one of many Longhorns who will benefit from a splendid 2024 season and use that momentum to end up starting his professional journey by virtue of a high pick. It doesn't take a master executive to see how Bond can be successful.
Speed is still one of the most prized assets in today's game, and Bond has so much of it that he should have minimal difficulty catching a GM's eye.
Texas WR Isaiah Bond 2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Notes
- Height: 5-11
- Weight: 180
- Recruiting: 2022 4-star, No. 52 national, No. 2 ATH, No. 6 GA, Alabama transfer
Positives
- Elite speed in the NFL on Day 1, has been able to become a solid underneath and vertical field stretcher that should see snaps immediately
- Shown to be a lethal deep threat, tracks the ball well and finishes plays.
- Separates at the line of scrimmage with ease, knows how to set up defensive backs with his routes and quickly break away.
- Lethal as a YAC producer, should get some immediate plays drawn up for him on jet sweeps and end arounds.
Bond may be one of the easier players to translate over to the NFL, as no level of schematic greatness will be good enough to nullify his speed. Bond, who effectively replaced Xavier Worthy, should be an immediate threat to break off big plays down the field.
As an underneath threat, Bond excels at turning screens, slants, and drag routes into big games with his slippery running style and excellent vision after the catch. That speed will be his meal ticket in the NFL, and he is far from just a sprinter who lacks other refined traits.
Negatives
- Very skinny, to the point where his inability to win against aggressive press coverage puts a hard limit on his potential as a featured passing game option.
- Struggles with making plays in contested catch situations, will likely never be a high-end player in this area due to his combination of shorter arms and a lack of physicality
- Was essentially passed as a primary passing game option by Matthew Golden this season, underperformed relative to expectations after 2023.
Bond's size will be his biggest obstacle to success in the NFL, as he can be completely taken out of plays whenever an aggressive corner that can get him locked up at the line. He won't be able to win on speed alone in the NFL, which is exactly what he did in college.
Bond didn't have the leap forward many expected of him during the 2023 season. Considering his inability to block and limited number of routes he can win with consistently, it makes sense as to why his stock has taken a bit of a dip despite his overwhelming athleticism.
Isaiah Bond NFL Player Comparison: Zay Flowers
Flowers is on the low end of the WR1 spectrum, but he may end up being one of the best WR2s in the league. Bond could be in for a similar career trajectory in the same situation.
Isaiah Bond 2025 NFL Draft Grade: Mid 2nd Round
Bond may not have Tyreek Hill-level speed, but he is enough of a burner to find usage in just about any offense. The ideal team for him, however, has enough creativity and verticality in the passing game to turn him into a budget version of Hill.
