Colts' new ownership paints grim picture of how lost the Cowboys really are

It's been the same game for 30 years.

Jerry Jones helped build a dynasty in the 1990s, winning three Super Bowls and leaving a legacy unlike anyone else. While those days were some of the best for Dallas Cowboys fans, it's time for Jones to look in the mirror in 2025.

The Indianapolis Colts are under new ownership following the death of longtime owner Jim Irsay. The new owner and CEO is his daughter, Carlie Irsay-Gordon. Irsay-Gordon was on the sideline in the Colts' dominant Week 8 win over the Titans, taking notes of her players on the field. This caught the attention of the internet, with fans praising Irsay-Gordon as someone who invests real effort in bettering her football team.

The Colts have taken the league by storm with a 7-1 record, the best in the NFL. Irsay-Gordon on the sidelines is a prime example of an organization's chief decision-maker going the extra mile, while Jones has approached owning the Cowboys with a business-first mentality.

Colts' new ownership reminds Cowboys fans that Jerry Jones is still calling the shots

The Colts are doing a complete 180 from what everyone thought about them in the offseason. Daniel Jones has taken the league by storm, and Jonathan Taylor looks like an MVP candidate. Irsay-Gordon is a perfect example of an owner engaging with their players on the sideline. She's also fully involved in all team activities.

The leadership of an organization always starts at the top. The picture of Irsay-Gordon taking notes shows the Cowboys are far away from their goal. The Colts are thriving, while the Cowboys continue to figure out their many defensive issues. Dallas is a team with no identity on the defensive side of the ball, and that's the main difference from how the Colts are operating.

Of course, Jerry is involved with his players, but you're never going to see him go that extra mile compared to someone like Irsay-Gordon. It paints a picture of how far down the rabbit hole the Cowboys' front office has gone.

Jones, as an owner and president, has done wonders for the Cowboys and for the entire NFL. He helped transform the NFL's media landscape by helping bring the NFL to FOX. As a general manager, Jerry has made some great picks, even recently. But since the 1995 season, he hasn't competed for a conference championship in nearly three decades.

It's clear something needs to change, but as long as Jerry continues to call the shots, it's just going to be the same result, over and over again.
