Yes. Don't even have to think about it.

It’s no secret that the Dallas Cowboys desperately need to improve their defense, and that’s why the franchise is expected to use its two first-round picks in the upcoming draft on defensive players.

While the draft will be a huge opportunity for the team to add defensive playmakers, Dallas may not have to wait until then to make a big-time defensive addition.

On Friday, NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Indianapolis Colts and veteran defensive back Kenny Moore II have mutually agreed to seek a trade.

Moore, one of the best slot corners in the league over the last decade, is entering the final year of his current contract. He’s clearly not in Indy’s future plans, but that’s great news for Dallas, because he’s exactly what the team needs defensively.

The Dallas Cowboys must pursue Colts’ Kenny Moore II, who’s available for trade

One of the major steps Dallas made to improve the defense was hiring Christian Parker to replace Matt Eberflus as defensive coordinator.

Parker, who has a lot of optimism surrounding him, has already talked about how important the nickel position is to what he wants to do defensively. Currently, the Cowboys’ only real option at nickel is Reddy Steward.

It’s safe to say Dallas is looking for an upgrade, and the available options don’t get better than Kenny Moore II.

Having entered the league in 2017 as an undrafted free agent, Moore has carved out an impressive career for himself over the past nine years. After being cut by the New England Patriots in training camp as a rookie, he immediately found a home in Indianapolis. He's played all 132 of his NFL games with the Colts, recording 649 tackles, 39 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, 21 interceptions (four returned for touchdowns), and six forced fumbles.

Moore went from being one of the league’s best-kept secrets to the highest-paid nickel and a 2021 Pro Bowler. Now, it seems like the chapter where that all took place, in Indianapolis, is over. The Cowboys should be ready to help the veteran defender turn the page.

Moore turns 31 in August and should still be able to deliver Dallas a valuable skillset. He can play behind the line of scrimmage and in space, covering pass catchers. He’s exactly what the Cowboys need in their secondary, so the franchise needs to jump at this opportunity.
