Forget quarterbacks, is there anyone in the NFL playing better than Dak Prescott right now? You'd be hard-pressed to name anyone else after Prescott's surgical showing on Sunday as the Dallas Cowboys rolled over the New York Jets 37-22.
Down four starting offensive linemen, including Tyler Smith, as well as CeeDee Lamb and KaVontae Turpin, Prescott ripped through the Jets' defense like a knife through butter. On top of dictating everything going on around him, Prescott has a mastery of Brian Schottenheimer's offense.
Schottenheimer has spoken highly of Prescott's play to start the year, but he made a big statement following the win.
Brian Schottenheimer had big praise for Dak Prescott after the Cowboys' Week 5 win
"I think we’re spoiled. I think he’s one of the best players in the league. He’s playing with a ton of confidence," Schottenheimer said, via The Athletic's Jon Machota.
Cowboys fans are definitely spoiled with the level Prescott is playing at right now. In the most objective way possible, he should be the MVP if the season ended today. It obviously doesn't, but five weeks is a big sample size, and there are a lot of really good quarterbacks.
In the past two games (without CeeDee Lamb), Prescott's thrown for 556 yards and eight total touchdowns without a turnover. He is averaging 7.1 yards per dropback in that span while completing over 70 percent of his passes.

Between Matthew Stafford, Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, and Jordan Love, a lot of quarterbacks are playing at a high level. After Sunday, Prescott is second in passing yards and second in passing touchdowns. He entered Week 5 first among QBs in adjusted EPA.
Beyond the stats, Prescott is seeing the field better than ever. He's diagnosing blitzes before they happen, making the requisite audibles. He's navigating pressure while keeping his eyes on his progressions and turning surefire sacks into positive gains.
Every week has been a quarterback clinic, and there's no reason to think that should change as the Cowboys get healthier in the coming weeks. The defense stepped up in a big way against the Jets, but Prescott is asked to carry this team every Sunday, and he's delivered with room to spare.
