This would be a cheat code for the Cowboys' offense.

While the Dallas Cowboys' front office twidles their thumbs instead of paying Micah Parsons, the offense seems to be firing on all cylinders with George Pickens showing out.

All five running backs are getting reps, and it's still tough to see who will get cut. The rapid rise of Jonathan Mingo has brought some concerns about Jalen Tolbert's future with the team.

The electrifying speedsters of KaVontae Turpin and Jaydon Blue have a chance to wreak havoc on the rest of the league. We have all seen how Dolphins speed demons Tyreek Hill and De'Von Achane have personified cheat codes in open space. The Cowboys have the personnel to replicate that with Turpina and Blue.

In a recent mailbag article, one fan asked Tommy Yarrish and Mickey Spagnola of the Cowboys' official website if they see the Cowboys using more screen passes this season. With a crowded RB group, Yarrish thinks it would be smart to unleash Tolbert in the screen game.

"I think you will see not just more RB screen passes, but RBs involved in the passing game as a whole more...Then you figure KaVontae Turpin into the equation given what he can do in open space, and you're looking at a solid aspect of your offensive arsenal."

Cowboys' screen plays would help explode the offense to new heights

Spagnola isn't 100 percent on board with screen passes, but he says that short passes out of the backfield are just as effective.

"Not sure if the Cowboys will be calling more screen passes, but they will be prevalent in this offense as an avenue to continue attacking with the run, serving as along handoff and a way get the speedy backs in space."

Yarrish adds that Blue was effective as a pass-catcher out of the backfield and feasted on 1-v-1 matchups. While the coaching staff will need to see how that translates to a game setting, Blue has impressed as both a runner and receiver in training camp.

That would allow Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders to focus solely on running the rock, though both vets are capable receivers. With Schottenheimer and offensive coordinator Klayton Adams adding more innovation (motion, tempo, etc.) to the offense, unleashing Blue on screens and short passes out of the backfield makes all the sense in the world.

The same goes for Turpin, who might be WR3 to star the season based on his usage over the first two weeks of camp.

Whether it be a swing pass, a quick out, a flare pass or a classic screen, it is great to see Schottenheimer leaning into the playmaking ability of Turpin and Blue.
