Even the haters can't deny that the Dallas Cowboys have had quite the history. The 1960s put the Cowboys on the map as one of the most unique teams in the NFL, as fans would pack the seats on the road, making it impossible for other fans to ignore.

The Cowboys have had quite the run at the quarterback position, starting with Don Meredith. Even though Meredith was a Pro Bowl QB, they never won the big game under his belt. Tom Landry quickly went from one Pro Bowl quarterback to another in Roger Staubach, who became notorious outside of Dallas for his scrambling abilities and comeback victories.

Fast forward to the 1990s, where the Cowboys would easily be identified by a trio of Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin. Even though many sportswriters will rank recent quarterbacks above Aikman, winning three Super Bowls in four seasons is a remarkable feat, and he's always remembered in Cowboys lore for being a main character during the dynasty.

CBS Sports recently ranked NFL teams in terms of their quarterback history. The Cowboys unsurprisingly checked in the top five.

Cowboys listed at No. 4 in all-time QB history by CBS Sports

CBS listed Meredith, Staubach, Aikman and Dak Prescott on their list for Dallas all-timers. Some fans might wonder why they chose Prescott over Tony Romo, but barring any catastrophic developments, Prescott will surpass Romo in team history for passing yards.

Only the Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers rank above the Cowboys in QB lore. CBS Sports listed Bart Starr, Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers on their list of Packers. The Packers had Super Bowl success under three quarterbacks for around 45 years, so it's easy to see why they were picked at No. 1.

Cowboys fans for generations have seen Hall of Famers at every position, but everyone knows how QB1 will always be critiqued. Fans who know the history of America's Team will mostly agree with this ranking, but it won't matter if the Cowboys can't get to the NFC Championship under Prescott at the helm.

It's going to be 30 years since the Cowboys last appeared in an NFC Championship, and after the Washington Commanders made the game last season, the Cowboys are now the only team in the 21st century to not make an appearance.

History will always be fun to go back and reminisce, but the time is now for Prescott to finally put truth to his promise.
