The Dallas Cowboys may be done with the whole Trey Lance experiment that never went anywhere, and Dak Prescott is clearly still locked in as the team's franchise quarterback, but Stephen Jones may have added a little spice to their quarterback room with his most recent revelation.

Not only did Jones confirm that Lance likely won't be back in 2025, but he also added that Dallas expects to draft a quarterback in 2025. While this class has been derided as a subpar collection of signal-callers lacking in quality, there are some intriguing mid-round players worth developing into a high-end backup for Prescott.

Don't be surprised if one of these four quarterbacks ends up coming to Dallas in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Cowboys may not be in the market for a new starter in 2025, but they seem to have taken an interest in a solid backup that can guard against any future Prescott injuries.

4 quarterbacks Cowboys can select in 2025 NFL Draft

4. Tyler Shough, Louisville

Shough has been featured in mock drafts quite often at Oregon and Texas Tech, but injuries often got the best of him. After a strong final college season with the Cardinals, Shough has put enough on film to get a team like Dallas interested in using a Day 3 pick on him and his big arm.

Shough is straight out of central casting, as the 6-5 gunslinger can avoid turnovers, fit the ball into tight windows, and avoid sacks. Shough's lack of tremendous athletic ability could be overruled by traits that will help him become a very successful backup quarterback in this league.

3. Riley Leonard, Notre Dame

Leonard has a ways to go as a passer, as there are some concerning lapses in accuracy and poor decision-making moments that will knock him down to the Day 3 range. However, of the Day 3 prospects on the board, Leonard may clearly have the highest ceiling due to his physical gifts.

Leonard is a great playmaker out of the pocket, using his legs and strong arm to great effect against premier competition. Leonard will need a year of seasoning on the bench, and Dallas could be the perfect spot for him.

2. Will Howard, Ohio State

Howard, who led the Buckeyes to a national championship, is a bit of a unique prospect. While he doesn't have that one standout trait that will get teams chomping at the bit to select him, the fact that he does a little bit of everything well at the quarterback position should be very appealing.

Howard is a bigger quarterback with solid mobility and a good downfield arm that will help him reel off some big plays with relative ease. Fresh off the best season of a long college career that began at Kansas State, Howard should have no trouble impressing a team like Dallas.

1. Jalen Milroe, Alabama

Every year, there's one quarterback prospect that gets picked higher than their stats would suggest due to their otherworldly physical tools. Milroe is that guy this year, as his flaws aren't enough to overshadow that he has every gift a coach could want in a possible franchise QB.

Milroe is sliding after regressing as a passer late in the season and showing some major accuracy concerns. However, Milroe is an A+ athlete who could be a dynamic playmaker with a cannon for an arm. Think of a right-handed, slightly stockier version of Michael Vick during his early Falcons days. That could make him a very attractive dice roll if he falls far on Day 2.
