This has already been a rather bold offseason for the Dallas Cowboys. They went out and traded for a couple of star players as they added wideout Brandin Cooks from the Houston Texans and cornerback Stephon Gilmore from the Indianapolis Colts.

If those deals are any indication, they’ll continue to make big moves even during the 2023 NFL Draft — and here, we make five bold predictions for the upcoming event.

5. A quarterback is added to the mix

Last season, the Cowboys had to turn to their backup quarterback for five games and Cooper Rush was 4-1 in those starts. He wasn’t lighting up the scoreboard but he was doing what a good QB2 should do and kept his team afloat.

Rush, who had several suitors this offseason, wound up returning to Dallas — thanks in large part to a delayed flight. He rejoins Will Grier behind Dak Prescott but they could see more competition join the mix.

The Cowboys have had their eyes on a couple of signal-callers including Max Duggan of TCU and Aidan O’Connell of Purdue. Before the weekend is over, look for them to add one of those players to their roster.

O’Connell was on their list of top 30 visits and could be on the board during day three. As for Duggan, he didn’t test as well as expected and was already considered a late-round pick. He could be an option in Round 7 or even as an undrafted free agent.

They understand the value of capable quarterbacks and will continue to churn the bottom of the roster, ensuring they remain competitive no matter which player they need to turn to in the event of an injury.
