1. Roschon Johnson, RB

As good as Bijan Robinson is, he’s not likely to be in Dallas without making a sacrifice. They would clearly need to give up a pick and in order to move high enough, it would likely be a day two selection. In the end, that’s probably not the way the Jones family will go.

Perhaps if they had no sure-fire starting running back they would pull the trigger but with $10 million already invested in Tony Pollard, that might be a tough pill to swallow.

But that doesn’t mean they can’t still find a talented running back from Texas in this class because Roschon Johnson is available — and is a much more realistic option.

Overshadowed by Robinson throughout his career with the Longhorns, Johnson heads to the NFL with fresh legs. He’s never run the ball more than 123 times in a season and was under 100 in each of the past three years. Even with the limited touches, he proved his worth as he averaged 5.6 yards per attempt and had 2,190 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Perhaps had he been on any other team, Johnson would be considered a day-two pick. But since he was a backup, that could lead to him slipping into Round 4 — which is the same round they landed Pollard in.

Should the draft fall in such a way, the Cowboys would be wise to add Johnson. He’s a 219-pound back that could prove to be their new goal-line and short-yardage back. He would be a perfect complement to Pollard and would be more than capable of handling the load should he ever need to fill in.
