Despite winning 12 games and advancing into the second round of the playoffs, the Dallas Cowboys have a lot of work ahead of them if they want to succeed in 2023. Not only did they already show several holes on their roster during this past campaign, but they also have a lot of pending free agents.

That means they’ll have to get to work in order to fill out their roster and with some starters now priced out, they’ll need to do some bargain shopping. With that being said, here are three names they need to go ahead and cross off their list.

3. Eric Kendricks, LB

As is the case with every player that will be mentioned, Eric Kendricks has had a very good career. He’s recorded at least 100 tackles in each of the past seven seasons and the one time he missed the mark was when he had 92 back in 2015 — which was his rookie season.

Even this past year, Kendricks had 137 tackles for the Minnesota Vikings, but that didn’t stop him from being released in a salary-saving move. It also didn’t keep him from showing love to the fans who have cheered him on for the past eight years.

With Leighton Vander Esch about to hit the open market, it might seem like a good idea to bring in Kendricks as his replacement. But that’s not the direction Dallas should go.

Kendricks just turned 31 years old and as we’ve seen with Everson Griffen and Anthony Barr, the Vikings usually move on from veteran players when they’re supposed to. This isn’t to say Kendricks won’t be good somewhere but the Cowboys should avoid going after anymore long-time Vikings defenders and instead, let youth be served at this position.
