5. Dante Fowler, Jr., EDGE, 2022

Dante Fowler gets an unfair rep as a bad player since he didn’t live up to his lofty draft status. Chosen at No. 3 overall in 2015 by the Jacksonville Jaguars, he missed his entire rookie campaign with a knee injury.

He returned in 2016 and slowly worked his way into form. By 2017, he was a solid pass-rusher with eight sacks for the Jaguars. However, he took a step back the following year and was eventually traded to the Los Angeles Rams.

This proved to be a good move for him as he had 11.5 sacks in 2019 which he turned into a three-year, $48 million deal with the Atlanta Falcons. There, he worked with Dan Quinn, until the head coach was released five weeks into the year.

Again, Fowler wasn’t able to live up to the high expectations and was released. He re-joined Quinn in Dallas on a one-year deal and had another strong campaign.

Despite not starting a game in 2022, Fowler had six sacks and 21 quarterback pressures. He was tied with DeMarcus Lawrence for third on the team in sacks, behind only Micah Parsons (13.5) and Dorance Armstrong (8.5).

With Sam Williams stepping up as the season went along, Dallas might not be willing to bring Fowler back. If that’s the case, he will go down as a very strong one-year signing.
