The Dallas Cowboys’ playoff shortcomings are well-documented.

At this point, fans can’t even fault the media for making a meal of Dallas’ elongated Super Bowl drought. The dry spell is now at 27 years after the Cowboys crashed out in the Divisional Round at the hands of San Francisco, and CeeDee Lamb is tired of coming up short despite being in the early stages of his career.

Lamb doesn’t want to be the next Cowboys star to finish his career without a championship. Like the generation that preluded him — your Dez Bryant’s, DeMarcus Ware’s, Jason Witten’s, and Tony Romo’s — Lamb is chasing the shadow of the 1990s Dallas teams that rattled off three titles in a four-year span.

Forget winning a Super Bowl, though. The organization last appeared in the NFC Championship Game since their last SB win in 1995.

Lamb is itching to break that trend after his second playoff appearance, and he’s fed up with coming up short in January.

More Cowboys News:

  • “I’m trying to make it to the Big Game. I’m tired of getting close,” Lamb said, via Cydney Henderson of USA Today. “I’ve only been in the playoffs two years. This is the farthest I’ve gotten and I’m tired of the teases.” Lamb surely isn’t the only Cowboys player who’s frustrated by the playoff losses, but fans have to love the sheer hunger to win a ring from the 23-year-old.
  • Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy currently ranks 20th all-time with 155 career victories. Unless the 2023 season goes off the rails, McCarthy will surpass more coaching legends in the near future.
  • With three wins, he’d tie Bud Grant, who led the Vikings to four Super Bowl appearances. With six wins, he’d tie Mike Holgrem, who has a spot in the Packers Hall of Fame and Seahawks Ring of Honor, won a Super Bowl and went to three Super Bowls altogether. If Dallas wins 11 games again, McCarthy will tie Paul Brown for the 15th-most wins in league history.

NFL News:

  • The Giants will release WR Kenny Golladay on the first day of the new league year (March 15). New York will save $6.7 million against the salary cap with the move, which marks the end of one of the worst free agent signings in recent memory. In two seasons (26 games, 18 starts), Golladay caught 43 passes for 602 yards and one touchdown, to go with a lowly 46.2% catch rate.
  • The Falcons released QB Marcus Mariota. The move was expected after Mariota “quit” on his team after he was benched for Desmond Ridder. After being informed of the news, Mariota left the team to undergo a knee procedure and was placed on season-ending injured reserve.
