We already know there will be some big changes for the Dallas Cowboys in 2023. With Kellen Moore now in Los Angeles, Brian Schottenheimer will be the new offensive coordinator. However, for the first time since signing with Dallas in 2020, head coach Mike McCarthy will be the one calling plays.
Dak Prescott is excited about what that means but they need to do more than call plays differently to get back on top of the NFC East. The Cowboys will also need to fill some holes on their roster and there are some familiar names available that could help them in 2023.

4. Dan Skipper, OT
When Dallas released La’el Collins ahead of the 2022 season, it showed their faith in Terence Steele. While he did live up to expectations before suffering a season-ending injury, the real worry was how the depth would look without Collins.
Counting on Steele as a starter meant there was no real option at swing tackle and it wasn’t long until they needed that. Tyron Smith was hurt in the preseason and no one on the roster was up to the task, other than rookie Tyler Smith — who had to take over when Josh Ball struggled.
Looking ahead to 2023, Dallas needs to make sure they don’t bet on Ball again as their primary option behind Steele and Smith. Instead, they could look to add a veteran and one name they could kick the tires on is Dan Skipper.
Undrafted out of Arkansas in 2017, Skipper began his career with the Cowboys but never made it to the active roster. Since then, he’s had stints with the Lions, Patriots, and Broncos. He went back to Detroit for a second run in 2021, spending the past two seasons there.
Skipper isn’t going to be mistaken for a full-time starter but he started five games this past season and would give them some confidence in their bench.
