Again, Jerry Jones wants all the credit for drafting and every one covering the NFL happily obliges. Take the 2020 NFL Draft for instance. Jones was famously chilling on his $250 million yacht during the draft and the narrative quickly became that he was making selections out on the open sea.

He was praised for it since that happened to be an insanely good draft class headlined by CeeDee Lamb and Trevon Diggs, but anyone paying attention could see Jones was a spectator — as he has been for years. Kind of like how he watched and got mad when they didn’t take Johnny Manziel or trade up for Paxton Lynch, but of course, those facts were ignored as he continues to get credit for the work of Will McClay.

Back to the 2020 draft, Dallas followed up their Lamb and Diggs selections with Neville Gallimore in Round 3. As was the case with Diggs, Gallimore ended up being selected one round later than projected and it appeared Dallas had three starters in a row.

Gallimore did start nine games as a rookie and showed potential. However, he suffered an elbow injury which sent him to the IR after just five games in 2021. He returned in 2022 but started just one game, playing primarily as a reserve. He finished with 33 tackles but had a 29.7 run defense grade according to Pro Football Focus.

Dallas went out and added Johnathan Hankins in a trade with the Raiders to bolster their run defense, which is what they were hoping Gallimore would provide.
