After another disappointing end to the season for the Dallas Cowboys, some serious changes need to be made this offseason, Although the firing of offensive coordinator Kellen Moore was a good start, the Cowboys need to look toward the draft to replace Ezekiel Elliott at the running back position.

The emergence of Tony Pollard this season exposed Elliott’s declining performance, and the writing is on the wall for Jerry Jones to move on from him this offseason. With Elliot’s yards per carry declining each year since he entered the league, he netted a career-low 3.8 yards per carry this season.

On top of this 51st-ranked stat, Zeke is sitting on one of the worst contracts in the league. Even with a cap hit of only $11 million this upcoming season, it is time for Jerry Jones to cut ties with the former No. 4 overall pick and look towards the draft for his replacement.

With that, here are some running backs the Cowboys should target in this year’s draft to replace Elliott.

3. Tank Bigsby, Auburn

Auburn running back Tank Bigsby comes in at 6 feet, 213 pounds and averaged 5.4 yards per carry in his junior season. The first player that comes to mind when comparing Tank to NFL talent is Derrick Henry, I mean it’s literally in the name.

The guy is an absolute beast and a force to be reckoned with. As mentioned, he’s a bigger guy who frankly isn’t going to give you the explosive runs and pass-catching ability you see from Pollard or Barkley.  Although, his size makes up for his lack of elusiveness, and would be an excellent third-round option for Dallas.

The pairing of Bigsby and Pollard would be an unstoppable duo, relieving Tony of too big of a workload and limiting injury risk. He doesn’t have the pass-catching ability of Pollard but has the ability to replace Elliott in the short-yardage and goal-line situations. His fresh set of legs will provide Dallas with an explosive one-two punch that they were missing with Zeke as the primary back.
