1. Cornerbacks

The Cowboys’ inability to find a cornerback replacement on the outside when Anthony Brown went down with a season-ending injury really cost them down the stretch. Now with Brown set to become a free agent, the Cowboys will need to replace him if he decides to leave for another team.

After being a fifth-round selection in last year’s draft, Da’Ron Bland’s impressive rookie season surely earned him more playing time next season. Jourdan Lewis is set to return following his injury and Trevon Diggs leads this cornerback room at the top.

Still, outside of these three, the Cowboys need more cornerback help.

Kelvin Joseph has shown no growth on the outside in his first two seasons and Nahshon Wright still has a lot more learning to do in the NFL. Wright though showed some potential in his second season when given the opportunity.

Nonetheless, the Cowboys need cornerback help and that could come via the draft. They could decide to take Joey Porter Jr. out of Penn State with the No. 26 pick or wait until round two where they’ve hit on a cornerback before in Diggs.

Either way, they need secondary help and they’ll likely take a cornerback with one of their 2023 draft picks.
