Round 3: Mazi Smith, DT, Michigan

During the season, the Cowboys added Johnathan Hankins in an effort to shore up their run defense. Hankins did his part but will be a free agent this offseason. Considering he will be 31 years old, it’s likely Dallas looks to get younger.

That’s what happens here as they use their selection in Round 3 on Mazi Smith from Michigan. A massive nose tackle at 6-foot-3 and 326-pounds, Smith had 85 tackles over the past two seasons for the Wolverines. He’s a very athletic player for such a large human and can add an element to the Dallas front four that they desperately need.

Round 4: Jalen Graham, LB, Purdue

Leighton Vander Esch nearly left in free agency this offseason but decided to return on a very friendly one-year deal. That proved to be a huge plus for Dallas as he had his best campaign since his rookie season. He also continued to play well in the playoffs and the Cowboys would surely like to bring him back.

Even if they do, there will be more depth needed. That’s why they go after Jalen Graham with their fourth pick in this draft.

Graham spent his first two seasons with Purdue playing safety before moving to linebacker in 2021. He’s listed at 6-foot-3 and 220-pounds and could be a great fit as a hybrid linebacker capable of covering linebackers and tight ends in the passing game.
