Man, what a game that was on Christmas Eve for our Dallas Cowboys.

Going into the matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, the contest lost quite a bit of juice after the ‘Boys were upset by the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Eagles won their game against the Bears, and it was reported that starting Birds’ QB Jalen Hurts would be out for the game.

However, that game was probably one of the most entertaining matchups of the season. There was a lot of offense, and even a good amount of defense, at least in terms of turnovers, in this game, making for one of the best games of the year.

Now, for both teams, its time to analyze what we learned from Saturday’s slate. For us, that will be the Cowboys, who currently sit in second place in the NFC East, despite an impressive 11-4 record, and a 4-1 intra-division record.

1. Mike McCarthy deserves his flowers

Mike McCarthy, ever since last season, has been one of, if not the main focus of scrutiny regarding this team’s issues. Don’t get me wrong, he hasn’t been perfect, but this team has been through a lot this season, and he has kept them not just afloat, but thriving.

Injuries have plagued this team this season, starting with Tyron Smith, then losing Dak Prescott for six weeks, while also working with a recovering Michael Gallup. Through that stretch without Prescott, the team went 5-1 with a backup quarterback in Cooper Rush. With a rookie left tackle and backup QB, he still managed to give this team a chance.

Now, Leighton Vander Esch is missing time, two starting corners are out for the season, Terence Steele is out for the season, and illness is going around, and they still get a win over the best team in football.

He has led this group to two straight playoff appearances and two straight 10-win seasons, which hasn’t happened since the 90’s. The locker room plays for him, and they are possibly in line for 13 wins this season. If that’s not worthy of some credit, I don’t know what is.
