This time last week, the Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles Christmas Eve matchup had game-of-the-year potential. Following Dallas’ loss in Jacksonville, though, Philly has all but put a bow on the NFC East race; a race Jalen Hurts and company have led pillar to post this season.

As if the holiday fixture could lose any more of its luster, Hurts is doubtful to feature after suffering a sprain to his throwing shoulder against the Bears. The Eagles expect Hurts back this season, but he could be rested until the playoffs depending on how quickly the injury heals.

Either way, this is huge news for this matchup … and the NFC playoff picture considering the Eagles need just one more win to wrap up the division title and claim the top seed, and thereby home-field advantage in the playoffs.

Early Monday, the line for Saturday night moved in Dallas favor, seemingly hinting that Philly endured an injury to a key player. That turned out to be Hurts, as the Cowboys opened as 1-point favorite before jumping to -1.5 and -3.

Let’s see where the line’s at now, shall we?

Cowboys vs Eagles Odds for Week 16 Christmas Eve matchup

Per FanDuel’s early odds, the Cowboys are nearly touchdown favorites (-6) over Philadelphia. You can get Dallas at -110 to cover the spread, or -270 for them to win outright on the moneyline. The Eagles are also -110 to cover the six-point line, while they’re +220 on the moneyline, meaning you can bet $100 to return $220. You already know Philly fans will be all over that one.

Even with Hurts’ status in doubt, the over/under is still at a healthy 46 points. Again, both sides have -110 odds, so Vegas clearly thinks this could go either way with backup Gardner Minshew presiding over the offense this week.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.

Cowboys vs Eagles Prediction for Week 16 Christmas Eve matchup

The first half scoreline suggested otherwise, but the Cowboys played the Eagles tough at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 6 with Cooper Rush running the offense. Ultimately, though, Rush didn’t establish a rhythm until the second half. By that point, it was too late. Though Dallas made their rivals sweat in the fourth quarter, their 20-0 deficit was simply too steep to overcome with a backup QB.

At the end of the day, this Eagles team isn’t invincible. They’ve almost slipped up against Indianapolis and Chicago, and nearly started the season with a loss to the Lions. Coming off a wonky performance vs the Bears and likely to be without the MVP favorite, we love the Cowboys in this spot.

The -6 line, though, is terrifying for a rivalry game. Even with no Hurts, the Eagles will get up for this matchup and likely keep it close. Unless Minshew is a total disaster, look for Dallas to win a nail-biter at home on Christmas Eve.

Prediction: Cowboys 24, Eagles 20.
