6 major takeaways from the Cowboys’ meltdown loss against the Jaguars
3. Cowboys Defense Was Legitimately Bad on Sunday
This hurts to say, but the defense was bad yesterday in almost all facets of the game. Aside from Micah Parsons, no player on the defensive line had more than four pressures, with Sam Williams being the only Cowboy with four.
Not being able to bring down Jags players was certainly an issue. The team recorded eight missed tackles, including a couple that the Cowboys should have gotten on Trevor Lawrence, which were clear missed sack opportunities. Williams and Carlos Watkins both notably missed sacks on Lawrence.
Parsons had an incredible bounce-back game, recording 12 pressures, 10 hurries, a sack, and a fumble recovery. However, the rest of the defense was nearly abysmal. The secondary was embarrassed by the Jags passing attack, allowing over 300 yards through the air and four passing touchdowns.
The run game couldn’t be stopped either, with the Jaguars averaging over seven yards per carry. The defense just couldn’t buy a stop, and was the biggest reason the Cowboys lost this game.
