Thanksgiving Day football in Dallas — a tradition synonymous with the holiday itself. America’s Team playing on Thanksgiving is as good as it gets and always has another level of energy to it.

The Dallas Cowboys enter this week riding high after a 40-3 thumping of the Minnesota Vikings on the road. They dominated this game in every single facet. The offense ran well. Dak Prescott completed 88% of his passes. The defense provided possibly their most dominant showing yet. This team showed their potential.

On the other side, the New York Giants come to town off of a rather embarrassing loss to the Lions in which they looked like they took steps backward and reverted to the Giants of previous seasons. While they sit at 7-3, they aren’t being put in the same tier as other teams. The Giants could use a statement game to make some noise.

Most importantly, the Cowboys are bringing back their best uniforms yet. The Thanksgiving Day throwback uniforms with the alternate white helmets will be making an appearance and that adds some juice to this one.

With a division rivalry and a Thanksgiving matchup, there’s a ton of history in this one. Let’s get to the series history, key players, and a prediction for the game.

Cowboys vs Giants: Matchup History

All-time Record: 72-47-2 in favor of the Dallas Cowboys (1-0 playoff record in favor of the New York Giants)

Most recent result: Dallas Cowboys 23, New York Giants 16 on September 26, 2022

The two teams met earlier this season and saw the ‘Boys take home the win in an early season NFC East matchup. This time around we see a matchup of two teams each boasting 7-3 records and currently commanding two of the three wild card spots.

While these teams have met 121 times during the regular season, they have only met up one previous time on Thanksgiving, back in 1992. The Cowboys dominated that game with a 30-3 victory buoyed by Emmitt Smith’s 120 rushing yards.

This matchup comes on a short week of teams headed in opposite directions. The Cowboys are looking to keep pace with the Eagles and move to 8-3 while the Giants desperately look to flush away an abysmal loss to the Lions.
