2. DaRon Bland

Bland has seen increased playing time in recent weeks due to the season-ending injury of cornerback Jourdan Lewis and is someone to keep a close eye on in Week 11 against the Vikings. The Cowboys’ fifth-round pick has had to step up as the top nickel corner on the roster.

Last week, Bland played 55% of Dallas’ defensive snaps but struggled with the opportunities he was given in the game. The rookie corner gave up five catches for 89 yards and a touchdown. His touchdown allowed came early in the fourth quarter when Christian Watson beat him for a 39-yard catch and run for the score.

Bland also allowed a critical three-down coverage in overtime. On a third and short, the rookie lined up against Allen Lazard in the slot and allowed a 36-yard catch and run after slipping. The completion eventually set up the Packers’ game-winning field goal.

There are going to be some growing pains with the rookie corner. At 6-foot-2, Bland has shown glimpses of eventually being a solid corner in the NFL. He’s made some nice plays so far this season like his interception in Week 4 against the Commanders and his pass breakup against the Bears in Week 8.

But can he come up big in Week 11 against the Vikings and help contain Minnesota’s wideouts in a must-win game for the Cowboys?
