4 bold predictions for the Cowboys vs Packers Week 10 NFC matchup
It was nice to see the Dallas Cowboys offense come to life in quarterback Dak Prescott’s second game back from a broken thumb. The Chicago Bears did make it interesting when they brought the game within five points, but once again, the Cowboys defense, led by Micah Parsons, came through with a big play to shift the momentum of the game back in their favor.
This week, the Cowboys head to Green Bay to face head coach Mike McCarthy’s old team and quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Emotions will be high on both sides of the football as Dallas players look to pick up a win for their head coach. To do that, they will have to beat McCarthy’s old quarterback and his revamped Packers offense. The growing pains for Rodgers and the Packers’ offense have been heavily reported on, and while it looks like a good thing for the Cowboys, this team has had issues containing the combination of Rodgers and running back Aaron Jones in the past.
This leads us to this week’s four bold predictions against one of the few teams with an all-time winning record against the Dallas Cowboys. Let’s get started.
4 bold predictions for the Cowboys vs Packers Week 10 matchup
4. Cowboys Start Their Engines
If the Cowboys want to win this game they are going to need to take away the Packers’ most effective aspect of their offense so far this season — RBs Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillion. We know how Dallas can do this on defense but let’s focus on how the Cowboys’ offense can take them out of the game.
Dak Prescott is going to be looking forward to playing against Rodgers but he will need to play smart football and not force anything.
Take what the aggressive secondary of the Packers is willing to give you and allow your running backs Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard to wear down this defense. The Packers right now are giving up an average of 4.8 yards per carry to running backs this season, so they should be able to move the football on the ground. Starting the engines of Elliott and Pollard early will allow the Dallas offense to eat up the clock and break the will of the Green Bay defense later in the game.
As for Prescott, the Packers’ safeties have been giving up an average of 8.6 yards per catch to opposing tight ends and 52 yards per game. That bodes well for Prescott who has no problem targeting his tight ends. This gives him something to lean on with cornerbacks Rasul Douglas and Jaire Alexander on the outside.
