What We’ve Seen and Possible Offensive Gameplan Against Dallas

Points Per Game: 17.1 points

Passing Yards Per Game: 224.7 yards

Rushing Yards Per Game: 120.7 yards

Total Yards Per Game: 345.3 yards

Third Down Conversion Percentage: 39.6%

Red Zone Conversion Percentage: 50%

You would think that the Cowboys’ defense would be chomping at the bit to take on this Packers offense and their inability to complete drives with any type of consistency. What we are seeing from this Packers offense is more along the lines of growing pains with quarterback Aaron Rodgers trying to develop a rapport with his new young receivers and leaning more on their running game than they have in the past.

That running game is led by Aaron Jones (who is dealing with an ankle injury) and A.J. Dillion, a nice one-two punch and one that could cause real issues for a Cowboys defense that still has problems stopping the run.

With the Packers’ two young rookies in Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, the Cowboys are going to be able to focus more on Rodgers’s favorite target this season Allen Lazard. So we should expect to see a heavy dose of the Packers’ running backs regardless of the status of Jones and his ankle.

They will want to keep as much pressure off Rodgers who has seen his time in the pocket drop drastically this season to 1.9 seconds. Their running of the football will achieve that if they are able to continue picking up 4.8 yards per attempt.

It’s once again a story of how well the Cowboys handle a strong running game that’s looking to protect a poor pass-blocking offensive line. So far this season their track record has been pretty up and down. Hopefully the week off gave this Cowboys’ defensive line time to work on their one true weakness.
