Full first-round 2023 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys add superstar RB weapon
After the Washington Commanders shipped off William Jackson III to the Steelers, they now could use more help on the perimeter of the defense. Cam Smith could certainly provide some help. He has been on lockdown this season, allowing just 137 yards on 192 coverage snaps this year.
While the New England Patriots don’t need much more help rushing the passer, being tied for first in the NFL in sacks with the Cowboys, Isaiah Foskey is a talent far too good to pass up for Bill Belichick. Foskey is one of the most productive edges in college football, having eight sacks, 26 pressures, and nine run stops so far in 2022.
The Cincinnati Bengals are up at No. 18, and they need to continue to build their defense. The cornerbacks could use more length, and that will come in the shape of 6-foot-2 corner Christian Gonzalez. Gonzalez has a knack for the football, having three interceptions and six pass deflections so far this season while also allowing a 59.3% completion percentage.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a stout defense and a not-so-great offense, if we have learned anything this season. However, with the way this mock draft has fallen, there aren’t many pieces that would fit well at this spot for the Bucs. In comes Antonio Johnson, a star nickel/safety/linebacker hybrid from Texas A&M. Johnson brings the power, and is one of the best tackling and run-defending secondary prospects in the nation.
