It is no secret that the offense, to this point of 2022, is not the strength of the Dallas Cowboys. However, after the return of Dak Prescott, perhaps the script is about to flip in favor of that side of the ball.

Against the Chicago Bears prior to the bye week, the team put up 49 points, the most any team has scored in a game this season. Granted, seven of those points came from a wild Micah Parsons scoop-and-score, but 42 against a solid Bears defense is still impressive nonetheless.

There is a lot to unpack from what this offense has shown through eight weeks, so a great way to analyze is by what each position is offering. I will be grading each position group on the offense and special teams based on their performance so far in 2022, starting with the quarterbacks.

Quarterbacks

The quarterback position has certainly been the hottest topic surrounding the Cowboys this season after Prescott had to miss time with a thumb injury. In his absence, as expected, the quarterback position was certainly one of the weaker links of the offense.

Cooper Rush took over and captained the team to a 4-1 record while No. 4 rehabbed. However, he wasn’t necessarily the biggest reason for the team’s four wins. During Prescott’s absence, Rush completed just 57.7% of his passes for five touchdowns and three interceptions. However, all three interceptions came in the lone loss of the stretch against the Philadelphia Eagles.

He had done a great job of managing the game and not turning over the ball, doing just enough to get the team by. Now, with Prescott back at the helm, the offense is looking better and better. Overall, the quarterback hasn’t been the reason this team has had so much success, but they have done enough to warrant some credit.
