With a 5-2 record, the Dallas Cowboys have had a strong start to the season. They’re in a tough division, which has them in third place despite their record, but they’ve managed to get through a five-game stretch without their quarterback and can still accomplish their goals this season.

While that’s true, they would like to see more from a few players, including Michael Gallup who has yet to round back into form following offseason surgery. With his stock dropping, we look at which other Cowboys have seen a shift in their stock following the Week 7 win against the Detroit Lions.

Stock up: KaVontae Turpin, Returner/WR

Once again, KaVontae Turpin did what he could to provide a spark for the Dallas offense. The former USFL star took a punt back 52 yards, setting the offense up in Detroit territory.

In typical Cowboys fashion, the offense did nothing with the excellent field position and had to punt it back to the Lions. On the season, Turpin now has 176 yards on 11 punt returns and 196 on kickoffs. He’s also going to go down in team history with one of the best victory formation snaps of all time.

Turpin’s signing this offseason made waves due to his performance in the USFL and while he hasn’t taken one to the house yet, he’s already made an impact and it feels like a matter of time until he gets into the end zone.

Stock down: Kellen Moore, Offensive Coordinator

Had it not been for the two touchdowns in the final minutes of the game, Dallas might have won by a score of 10-6. It would have counted the same in the standings but the confidence level going into Week 8 would be much lower.

Even with that being the case, this offense needs to get some things figured out. They’ve had far too many stalled drives, three-and-outs, and miscommunications. All of that falls on Kellen Moore, who has proven to be a good play-caller but is struggling in 2022.

He should get credit for helping the team stay afloat with Cooper Rush but the truth remains that the defense has been carrying them and the offense needs to get it figured out soon.

Sometimes he’s trying to do too much (calling odd plays when there’s only a yard to gain) and other times he fails to use his weapons in the right way. Regardless, many want to see him change up his playbook ASAP.
