6. Trevon Diggs and the secondary needs their props

When you think of the Cowboys defense, a lot of what you think of is Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, and that ferocious defensive line. They get a ton of praise and they deserve every bit of it. However, this has caused the secondary to fly a bit under the radar.

While the quick, intermediate completions were an annoyance to watch at times, the secondary for the Cowboys actually played very well against one of the best offenses in the NFL. They allowed just 228 passing yards and didn’t allow any huge plays, along with picking off two Jared Goff throws.

One of the biggest reasons for the secondary’s success is Trevon Diggs. He has really stepped up his game this season in terms of being stickier in coverage, and it showed Sunday. He had one of the interceptions (Jourdan Lewis had the other) on the day, and also had a pass breakup, while allowing no catches on three targets.

The secondary played a great game on Sunday, and they deserve their props. The defensive line did their job, the secondary did their job, and Dan Quinn did his job. When that happens, you see only six points next to the opposing team’s name on the scoreboard. Well done, Dallas defense.
