Cowboys 7-round mock draft: Christian Gonzalez makes secondary elite
By Randy Gurzi
Round 5: Dalton Kincaid, TE, Utah
Dalton Schultz is unlikely to return for the Cowboys as they were able to reel off four wins in a row with him mainly being a non-factor due to injury. This isn’t being said to minimize his talent, or what he means to the offense, but the front office in Big D was already reluctant to pay him. And seeing Jake Ferguson play well is going to be enough for them to go into 2022 without Schultz — unless he takes a huge hometown discount (not happening).
With Schultz out, another Dalton comes in as the Cowboys use their second pick in Round 5 on Dalton Kincaid from Utah. At 6-foot-4 and 242-pounds, Kincaid isn’t the largest tight end but he has 558 yards and six touchdowns in six games this season.
He’s a great receiving threat and could be a matchup problem for opposing teams.
Round 6: Ronnie Hickman, S, Ohio State
Donovan Wilson will be a free agent in the offseason and the Cowboys will have to decide if they want to pay him or trust Israel Mukuamu as the third safety going forward. Chances are high that they will let him walk since they’ve suddenly become frugal.
If so, they need to make sure to add more depth, which is why Ronnie Hickman from Ohio State is the final pick in this mock.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Hickman has three picks in the past two seasons and could develop into a rotational player down the road.
