After going 0-2 by large margins against the Dallas Cowboys in 2021, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni really wanted to win the Week 6 matchup against his NFC East foe.

And, he did.

The Eagles took down the Cowboys (who almost staged a comeback that was marred by mistakes and flags) by a score of 26-17 marking Sirianni’s first win against the Cowboys and leaving his group undefeated.

As the clock was winding down, NBC showed Sirianni on the sideline looking quite fired up (more like another FU). While it’s hard to tell who exactly he is talking to, you can clearly read his lips that scream… Well, just watch the video.

Brandon Graham explains reasoning behind Nick Sirianni’s expletive outburst towards the end of Cowboys-Eagles game

This doesn’t even include the post-game footage of the Eagles head coach walking into the locker room and shouting “How bout them Eagles?!” to clearly slight the Cowboys’ famous slogan.

When asked about getting heated on the sideline, this was Sirianni’s explanation:

"“I was mad about the extracurricular activity. I’m sure we weren’t angels in that confrontation right there, I’m sure we had something to do with that a little bit as well. I’m just going to stick up for our guys, that’s just who I am.”"

The “extracurricular activity” he is referring to is a scrum that happened with under a minute left where things started to get a little chippy. Jason Kelce and Osa Odighizuwa did some shoving after the whistle and teammates had to get involved in breaking things up.

However, Eagles DE Brandon Graham has a bit of a different variation to this story.

It turns out this anger and energy from Sirianni may have been brewing up for quite a while. Graham said that Cowboys players talked trash to the coach after last year’s blowout victory. Here’s what the DE had to say in a Philly radio interview on Tuesday:

"“I don’t know if he’s gonna tell y’all the story, but I’ll just say it. He said the last time when we lost to them last year [51-26], he said a couple of players came up to him and said ‘Y’all don’t belong on this field with us’ and all this stuff, ‘We the NFC East!’ So it was cool to hear that and know it was building up to this moment. I know that that was part of why he was probably going off too.”"

This is some new information we certainly didn’t know and definitely adds clarity as to why Sirianni was perhaps more out there in his post-game excitement than he needed to be.

The Eagles now head to their bye week, but there is still a lot of football to play and they have to face the Cowboys again in Dallas on Christmas Eve. Who knows what their records will be then, but there’s certainly bad blood and that Week 16 matchup will be one to watch. Graham agrees.

“It’s just building up for the next one,” Graham said. “Building up for the next one.”
