The Dallas Cowboys tried to be the first team to hand the Philadelphia Eagles a loss and it didn’t go according to plan. Several disciplinary mistakes and poor calls led the Cowboys to eventually fall 26-17 to their NFC East foe.

The narrative heading into Week 7 is much different. There is a large chance the ‘Boys get their starting QB back, as Dak Prescott told reporters that he “plans” to start against the Detroit Lions after being out for five weeks with a fractured thumb.

Now, on paper at least, the team gets a breather at home against a 1-4 Lions team. Even though Detroit is coming off some rest from the bye week, they are still on a three-game losing streak and managed to put up zero points on the Patriots in Week 5, and this Cowboys defense is far stronger.

Hopefully, Dallas can get an easy victory at home to get themselves another NFC win and back on track for the season.

Cowboys vs Lions Odds, Spread, Moneyline for Week 7

As of Tuesday, the Week 7 betting odds on FanDuel have the Cowboys as 7.0-point favorites at home at AT&T Stadium on Sunday. Dallas is -330 on the moneyline, while the Lions are underdogs at +265. The total for the game is set at 48.5 points.

Even though Dallas is “nobody’s underdog,” per Mike McCarthy, this marks just the second time the Cowboys have been favored in a game this season. They were favored against the Washington Commanders at home and are now favored again at home. This is also by far one of the biggest spreads for Dallas this season. Usually, the spread is between three and five, so seven is a lot.

Cowboys vs Lions Prediction and Preview for Week 7

We hope that Prescott is back at the helm and ready to prove to everyone that there really was no QB controversy after all. And even if it isn’t Dak, Rush has been solid enough to get a victory against a 1-4 team.

The Cowboys are 6-2 in their last eight home games against Detroit and lead the all-time series 17-12.

On the surface, this should be an easy victory for the Cowboys. There are a couple things going for the Lions, though. They desparately need a win to get relevant. They are coming off of rest after a bye week. And, they should have D’Andre Swift back after he sat out with a shoulder injury. It will be a brutal welcome back when he has to take on Micah Parsons and the rest of the Cowboys defense, however.

Worried about the Dallas offense? Don’t be. The Lions rank 32nd in the league in total defense (428.6 yards per game) and last in scoring defense (34.0 points per game). This should give the Cowboys, and hopefully Prescott, a chance to open the playbook and get some rhythm going into the second quarter if the season.

We predict Dallas easily sails to 5-2 with a fun home victory by a score of 27-13.
