The Dallas Cowboys’ win last week surprised some by showing just how dominant the defense was able to be against a talented Los Angeles Rams offensive unit. To Cowboys fans, this wasn’t a shock, as this defense has been playing lights out and is only getting better as the season continues.

This week, they face off against their division-leading rival the Philadelphia Eagles and their fifth-best overall offense in the league in a battle to see who will control the NFC East.

Just like the Cowboys, the offense and defense for the Eagles have been off to a hot start going 5-0. The biggest difference is consistency.

For the last few weeks, the Eagles have been sluggish in how they start games, which led to them being down or letting teams stay in games late. That slow start is something the Cowboys are going to need to take advantage of in order to keep the pressure on Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, especially since he will likely be without his starting left tackle against the Cowboys pass rush.

With that being said it’s time to dive into this week’s bold predictions for the Cowboys’ Week 6 primetime matchup.

4. Cowboys Corral Eagles Running Game

On the ground, the Eagles’ offense is one of the best in the league ranking fourth in rushing yards (800) and rushing touchdowns (12). If the Cowboys want to have any chance at slowing down Jalen Hurts and this offense, they will need to stop the run and force Hurts to win with his arm. They especially need to keep this offense out of the red zone where they are currently converting 62% of those opportunities into points on the board.

This will then allows Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Co. to do what they do best: rush the passer. Neville Gallimore and the rest of this defensive tackle unit are going to need to maintain their leverage and clog lanes and keep their linebackers clean to slow down the combination of Miles Sanders and Kenneth Gainwell.

We’ve also seen reports of the Cowboys using Will Grier to try and replicate the Eagles’ quarterback scrambling in live action. The Cowboys seem to have put a focus on stopping the run in this game from both the quarterback and running backs which is a good sign.
