NBC. Sunday, Oct 16. 54. Cowboys +5.5. 123. 8:20 PM ET. 4-1. 5-0

If you predicted that the Dallas Cowboys would be 4-1 after their Week 1 disaster or that their rival Philadelphia Eagles would be the only undefeated team left in the NFL, we hope you have a bet slip to show for it. What was once deemed the NFC Least is now the best division in football, and we at The Landry Hat are certainly pleasantly surprised.

As Micah Parsons said in his Week 5 post-game interview, hard work beats adversity and that’s exactly what’s been happening with this Cowboys team. After the whole world doubted them when they lost Dak Prescott, Cooper Rush and his teammates in all three phases stepped up to prove the haters wrong.

Taking down the Los Angeles Rams, albeit a beaten-up Rams team, was the Cowboys’ first big test after their victories against the New York Giants and Washington Commanders. Now, they face their biggest challenge yet: their arch-rival who happens to be 5-0 and one of the best-looking teams in football.

As difficult as it is to say, Philly looks top notch and the moves they made over the offseason have paid off in dividends. Jalen Hurts, who was once thought to be a major weakness on this team, looks fantastic, and both sides of the ball are functioning well.

This primetime Sunday Night Football game will be one for the books. Let’s take a look at the early odds, spread, moneyline, and prediction for the NFC East battle.

Cowboys vs Eagles Odds, Spread, Moneyline for Week 6

At the time of writing, the Week 6 betting odds on FanDuel have the Cowboys as 5.5-point underdogs on the road in Philadelphia on Sunday. Dallas is +190 on the moneyline, while the Eagles are favorites at -230. The total for the game is set at 42.5 points.

For the fifth time this season, the Cowboys enter the game as underdogs, although if you ask Mike McCarthy, this team is “nobody’s underdog.” It seems like the notion of proving the doubters wrong seems to be great fuel for the Cowboys. They’ve won four out of the five games they’ve been deemed underdogs in so far, and they look to continue that in a tough battle against the Eagles on Sunday night.

Yet again, the oddsmakers give the Cowboys a decently high total on the game despite knowing this team has yet to allow more than 19 points from any opponent this year. Make of that what you will.

Cowboys vs Eagles Prediction and Preview for Week 6

The Cowboys are more than likely to be without Dak Prescott again. On Tuesday, Jerry Jones said there are several factors keeping the QB1 out, including swelling, grip, and the ability to spin the ball. He’s day-to-day, but it seems like he’s not quite there yet.

However, with Rush being able to pull off what he has, Jones likely doesn’t feel the pressure he felt after Week 1 to get his quarterback out there ASAP or even too early.

Rush still isn’t a top quarterback, but somehow, he’s made it work the last four weeks thanks to a ton of help from this lights-out Dallas defense. Dan Quinn’s group will be by far the toughest defense Philadelphia has faced this year, but the Eagles’ offense will be one of the most challenging from Dallas’s perspective as well.

It’s worth noting that Jalen Hurts has yet to beat the Cowboys in his career, but it’s also important to point out that he looks far different from the QB he was in 2020 and 2021. Will he revert back to his old ways or walk all over the team he’s yet to take down?

A primetime matchup means anything goes, especially when you have two arch nemeses facing each other and looking to assert their dominance in the NFC East. Expect this to be a battle to the finish and we think it’ll be much closer than some fans think.

We believe the Eagles will sadly find a way to get it done in this one by a score of 21-17.
