4 bold predictions for the Cowboys vs. Rams Week 5 game
2. Cowboys corral Donald but Floyd gets loose
The player that the Cowboys’ defensive coaching staff (and every team’s defensive coaching staff for that matter) is most concerned with is Aaron Donald. The Cowboys have seen firsthand how much of an offensive game wrecker he can be in both the passing game and also in the running game.
Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and offensive line coach Joe Philbin are going to come up with a plan to remove Donald from the game by using screens, quick passes, and getting the ball out of Cooper Rush’s hands as quickly as possible.
The Rams are also going to be preparing for this and will look to move Donald around to find the best matchup for him to attack this offense. Unfortunately for Donald and the Rams the Cowboys’ offensive line is up for the task and will be able to hold Donald at bay in this game.
However, doing so will allow outside linebacker Leonard Floyd to get pressure off the edge this weekend. The most important matchup to look for will be Connor McGovern against Donald.
