The cast of NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” isn’t afraid to be honest and candid about both their allegiances to their teams and admitting when an opponent does something worthy of talking about. It’s an opinionated talk show where the crew gets to give their hot takes on the topics of the week.

On Tuesday morning, a major topic was, of course, the Dallas Cowboys’ dominant victory over the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.

The GMFB crew hasn’t been shy about their displeasure with the Cowboys. Kyle Brandt even vowed not to cover the team back in March because he was so annoyed that a franchise that hasn’t won a Super Bowl in 27 years gets such a large amount of media coverage, thanks to the constant ploys and games of Jerry Jones.

Unfortunately for Brandt, “not covering the Cowboys” isn’t really an option. His co-host Peter Schrager wasn’t thrilled about it either. Schrager, an open Giants fan, wasn’t happy about the Cowboys handing his team their first loss of the season, but he wasn’t going to hide the fact that Dallas absolutely “owns the Giants” at this time.

The NFL Network personality went on a rant about how the Giants thought this was their chance and totally blew it:

"“The Cowboys were all over MetLife Stadium. You know, this was a big deal for the Giants. They wanted this white out. They made this into a marketing ploy. We’re going to make this into a giant thing. They bring out Lawrence Taylor and the whole thing. Then, when we get on the field, it becomes a Cowboys dominant performance. Giants fans… you’re waking up this morning saying, ‘what could we do here?’ You’re going up against a team without Dak Prescott. Without Michael Gallup. Amari Cooper is no longer there. Without Tyron Smith, and it’s still all Cowboys. The Cowboys own the Giants right now. Ten of eleven games, the Cowboys have beaten the Giants. They beat them every time it’s on prime time. They beat them no matter who is calling the game. No matter where it is. And the Giants fans were ready for this one. This was supposed to be the turning of the tide. ‘We’ve got em right where we want em. They don’t have their quarterback. It’s national TV.’ No. [The Cowboys] absolutely dominated them. The Giants didn’t have the horses and I feel it for those fans. They went out on a Monday night. They gave it their all. I just don’t think the Giants have what it takes right now to compete with the Cowboys. “"

GMFB’s Peter Schrager says the “Cowboys own the Giants right now” after MNF win

He’s not wrong. The Cowboys have won 10 of their last 11 games against New York. Daniel Jones is 0-9 in prime-time games and blew his chance to be one of only three 3-0 teams in the league. The Giants QB was pressured on a whopping 24 dropbacks and literally looked under duress the entire matchup. That is the most pressure he’s ever had in his four NFL years, and it resulted in him getting sacked five times.

New York also failed to score a touchdown in the first half for the third straight game, scoring a total of nine points in the first half of all their games in 2022.

Schrager also mentioned that he feels bad for Jones. He brought up the idea that his lack of offensive line protection and inability to do his job well will cost the former Duke quarterback the ability to get a massive quarterback deal like others in this league given Jones is in a contract year.

On the other hand, the Cowboys were led by a backup who was able to be great when the team needed him — a man the Giants cut in 2020. After the Giants momentarily took a 13-6 lead, Cooper Rush completed 12 of his next 13 throws to score on the next two Dallas drives.

Although the Giants deserve their credit for starting 2-0, it’s fair to say no one was nearly as worried about this matchup as they were about the Bengals in Week 2. New York played two subpar teams to start the year and could’ve easily lost both contests.

Dallas continues their dominance of the Giants and hopes to be 2-0 in NFC East play after they face the Washington Commanders this Sunday.
