3. The defense neutralizes their main weapon
Earlier I spoke about how this Giants offense under new head coach Brian Daboll has leaned heavily on Barkley to keep the offense going and on the field. So far this season on the ground, the Giants have had runs longer than 12 yards eight times, which is the second highest in the league.
If the Cowboys want to have any chance of winning this game, then stopping Barkley is going to be the top priority on defensive coordinator Dan Quinn’s list.

It’s easy to see that the Giants aren’t going to let the Cowboys pressure Jones all game. In order to slow down the rush, they are going to throw screens and runs at this Dallas defensive line to tire them out. Allowing them to control the clock and keep their defense that is pretty banged up fresh. The Cowboys are going to be doing the same thing with Elliott and Pollard so whichever team is able to slow down the others’ running game will gain the upper hand in the game.
