It’s Week 3 of the NFL season and the NFC East conference looks far different than anyone would have imagined a month ago. The Dallas Cowboys lost Dak Prescott and several others due to injuries. The New York Giants (?!) and new-look Philadelphia Eagles are both 2-0. And, the division that everybody in the NFL made fun of now has the top record in the NFC (6-2).

We certainly didn’t expect this from the Giants, but sadly, a lot of people saw this dominance from the Eagles coming. Howie Roseman went to work this offseason and made all kinds of trades, draft picks, and maneuvers to fix the plethora of issues on the Philly roster, and it’s clearly paying off.

Most Week 3 power rankings have the Eagles in the top 10. While it’s always hard to stomach when your enemy is doing well, it’s been hard to ignore Philly’s major moves and early success.

Even the most optimistic man in the world, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, was willing to point out how impressed he was with QB Jalen Hurts and the NFC East rival team.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he was impressed by Jalen Hurts and Eagles MNF performance

The once-questioned quarterback of the Eagles is off to a hot start. He finished 26 of 31 for 333 yards. He also had a passing touchdown, two rushing touchdowns, 57 rushing yards, and a 108.7 passer rating against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday.

In a recent interview with 105.3 The Fan, Jones was incredibly complimentary of Hurts’ Monday Night Football performance:

"“Well, Hurts has really evolved and is better than when he came out than you might have thought. I was particularly impressed with his passing, and I watched every snap last night. He’s a guy that has always been able to run, very athletic, very strong. That’s not surprising. It doesn’t surprise me or startle me that we’re playing a Philadelphia team with a quarterback threat. I don’t dream of playing these teams that ultimately don’t have a quarterback that they’ve got a plan to move the ball with. They’ve certainly done that with him, and they’re doing a good job up there, and they’re going to be all we can handle.”"

We wish we could sit here and say this is another bout of Jones saying crazy things that make no sense, but he’s unfortunately right. The Eagles do look really good. Better than we thought even.

Thankfully, the Cowboys don’t have to worry about this team until Week 6. Dallas faces their other two NFC East rivals in Week 3 (Giants) and Week 4 (Commanders). The extra weeks are crucial. It gives America’s Team a chance to get more film on Philly, and the team could potentially have Prescott back by Week 6.

The NFC East is looking a heck of a lot better than the laughed-at conference people expected it to be before this season started. Things are about to get serious.
