Dallas Cowboys vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Know thy enemy
What We Think The Bucs Offensive Game Plan Will Be
It’s going to be very interesting what this offense looks like after losing Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski. But, when you have quarterback Tom Brady at the helm, it’s hard to lose faith.
Last season, Gronk did miss games due to injuries but he was able to play in 12 games in an offense that was able to put up an average of 30.1 points per game which had them ranked second in overall points scored. They were the No. 1 passing offense in the league amassing 5,229 yards and 43 touchdowns through the air but ranked near the bottom of the league coming in as the 26th ranked team rushing for 1,672 yards on the ground.
This offseason, the Buccaneers wisely added some more weapons around Brady in receivers Russell Gage and Julio Jones. Those are very strong additions to an offense that lost Gronk and has Chris Godwin still rehabbing a torn ACL.
It remains to be seen if Godwin will play in the game, and with the injuries along their offensive line, the game plan for this Buccaneers team is going to be establishing the run in order to open up throwing lanes for Brady in the middle of the field.
Expect to see a heavy dose of Leonard Fournette in this game with Gage, Jones, and tight end Cameron Brate working the middle of the defense. Receiver Mike Evans is and will continue to be the best deep threat receiver. For the Cowboys to wreck this game plan they will need to get pressure on Brady up the middle and in the backfield by exploiting that weakened offensive line.
