Todd Bowles has high praise for Micah Parsons ahead of Week 1 matchup
The Dallas Cowboys’ first game of the regular season is a rematch of 2021’s exciting Week 1 battle with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Last year, the Bucs narrowly earned a 31-29 victory. This time around, the Cowboys are looking for revenge against Tom Brady and the Bucs on their home turf.
Not only is a rematch always exciting, but this game will also be the first Sunday Night Football game of the regular season. Brady, Dak Prescott, Mike Evans, Trevon Diggs, and Micah Parsons will all be under the bright lights in Arlington.
Both teams have been preparing all offseason to do what they can to better their rosters and get where they need to be to have a successful 2022
One person the Buccaneers are keeping an eye on is the reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. On Thursday, Todd Bowles was asked about Parsons and how the team feels about facing him. The new Bucs head coach had very high praise for the 23-year-old:
"“He definitely qualifies as a game wrecker. They use him outside. They use him outside. He can rush the passer from anywhere. He can blow up runs, he can cover. He causes a lot of problems. They cause a lot of mismatches for him, they get him in position where he’s on the back a lot, but he can beat linemen as well. He’s a true game-wrecker.”"
When asked if Parsons is a guy Brady needs to particularly be aware of on the line, Bowles said his veteran QB should be aware of everyone, but definitely where the young LB is.
Cowboys LB Micah Parsons wants to be feared by opponents and is ready for another chance at Tom Brady
In his first game in the NFL after taking an entire year off due to COVID-19, Parsons had seven tackles, one pass defended, and one QB hit against the Bucs. When the Cowboy was asked about getting to face the “GOAT” again, he seemed excited. He told Patrik Walker that he thought he wasn’t going to get another chance to sack Brady when he momentarily retired this offseason.
But does Brady scare him? Not particularly. Parsons said he doesn’t think there’s anybody out there that he’s “not trying to kill.” Good luck, Tom.
The Penn State product also told Walker that he’s tired of facing his teammates and ready to go after some people he doesn’t like. What a mentality.
Overall, Parsons just seems primed to continue his path to greatness.
The “Lion” has always set lofty goals and expected the best from himself. He drew comparisons to Lawrence Taylor in his first year in the league. Now, he wants to be the best player on either side of the ball.
“I want to be feared,” Parsons told reporters.
