3. Depth and health at wide receiver

The Cowboys receiving corps took a hit when Amari Cooper was traded to the Cleveland Browns. They felt they could still contend with CeeDee Lamb set to take over as the No. 1 option. They also added James Washington and re-signed Michael Gallup to a multi-year extension.

Unfortunately, Gallup isn’t ready to play yet after having surgery on a torn ACL back in January. Washington is also out after fracturing his foot in training camp. So now, they go from wondering if they can replace Cooper with three veterans to asking Lamb to carry the load while hoping Dak Prescott can elevate the play of several unknown options at the position.

There were a few standouts in camp, including former seventh-round pick Noah Brown. They’ve also been pleased with rookies Jalen Tolbert and Dennis Houston. Perhaps it all works out and the youngsters can do just enough while Lamb does the heavy-lifting, but this team is in serious trouble if Lamb so much as stubs his toe.

Just to emphasize how uncertain things are, Terrence Steele has more touchdowns than anyone on their current active roster other than Lamb. The starting right tackle has one touchdown, while the rest of the wideouts have none.

That’s a reason to be slightly nervous, even if the front office says there isn’t.
