With all of the speculation around whether the Dallas Cowboys did or didn’t do enough this offseason to get the best 53-man roster, we are just ready for the season to start to see what this team can actually do.

Some believe the Cowboys did enough work to get themselves to another NFC East title and another playoff berth. Others, like Colin Cowherd, believe the front office did this team no favors with the lack of moves made this offseason.

ESPN’s Marcus Spears isn’t thrilled about the position the Cowboys are in, and he knows a thing or two about playing in Dallas. The broadcaster spent eight years with the Cowboys as a defensive end. Just like other former Dallas players, Spears wants to believe in this team. But he’s finding it hard to do given the circumstances.

Spears was recently on ESPN’s “Get Up” and was asked what he feels about the current state of the Cowboys. He started off by definitively saying that the offense is not more talented than it was last year and that the question marks along the offensive line are a serious issue.

Former Cowboys DE Marcus Spears says this is the most pressure Dak Prescott will be under in his career

Because of the losses at wide receiver and offensive line, Spears believes that although Prescott is poised to have his best year yet, he will also be under the most pressure.

"“This will be the most pressure… everybody is talking about Dak having his best season. I think he has the potential to do that. This is also the most pressure, to me, Dak Prescott has been under because he doesn’t have all of those requisite weapons. We don’t know how this run game is going to look… There’s a lot of things working against the Dallas Cowboys right now.”"

The former DE added another interesting point. Most people are worried about whether Mike McCarthy is good enough to coach this team. However, Spears is saying this roster may not be good enough for McCarthy. To the former Cowboy, penalties aren’t the biggest issue for the team right now. It’s whether this roster is good enough to compete and even give McCarthy a chance to keep his job.
