The Dallas Cowboys are in the process of taking their preseason squad from 80 players down to only 53. All 32 NFL teams have until 4:00 pm ET on Tuesday to reveal their final rosters. Over the past three weeks, ten players have already been waived or assigned to the IR to free up spots.

With some underdogs and UDFAs having excellent showings in camp and preseason, it will certainly be sad to see 27 people get cut.

We published our final 53-man roster prediction Monday morning, but rumors and reports are already starting to fill in. Keep in mind this “final” Cowboys team is far from final. Adjustments may be made. The front office could pick up players waived by other teams. Players waived could come back to the practice squad. There’s a lot that can happen.

Until things are final on Tuesday afternoon, you can come here to see which waives or cuts have been leaked to the public.

Dallas Cowboys roster cuts tracker ahead of the 53-man deadline

Here is a list of waived or cut players and a reference to the source:

  1. Cowboys waived UDFA DE Markaviest “Big Kat” Bryant, per Michael GehlkenFans had high hopes for the UCF alum who had a sack in the game against the Chargers.
  2. Cowboys waived UDFA OT Amon Simon, per Michael Gehlken. A lesser known name out of Texas A&M-Commerce.
  3. Cowboys waived backup QB Ben DiNucci, per Todd Archer. DiNucci had some decent moments in the preseason but was clearly behind both Will Grier and Cooper Rush. Depending on if he clears waivers, he could be back on the practice squad.
  4. Cowboys waived UDFA OL James Empey per Michael Gehlken. Empey was one of two UDFA centers to get signed by Dallas. The other was Boston College’s Alec Lindstrom who clearly performed better than Empey.
  5. Cowboys waived WR T.J. Vasher per Michael Gehlken. Fans were a bit sad about this one given Vasher had one of the most exciting catches in the Cowboys’ time in Oxnard. With so many WR rookies in the building, cuts were bound to happen. For now, names like Dennis Houston, Simi Fehoko, Noah Brown, and Brandon Smith live to fight another day.
  6. Cowboys cut S Tyler Coyle, per Michael Gehlken. Coyle showed talent but the safety room is pretty stacked.
  7. Cowboys waived UDFA DE Mike Tafua, per Michael Gehlken. The Utah product had a sack in the preseason and could be back on the practice squad.
  8. Cowboys waived UDFA LB Storey Jackson, per Michael Gehlken. The Liberty product is a practice squad hopeful.
  9. Cowboys waived UDFA C Alec Lindstrom, per Michael Gehlken. Lindstrom was very impressive.
  10. Cowboys waived UDFA WR Dontario Drummond, per Michael Gehlken. Drummond had a strong preseason but the rookie WR room is very full.
  11. Cowboys waived WR Brandon Smith, per Michael Gehlken. Smith had a great preseason and has a chance to get picked up by other teams.
  12. Cowboys cut TE Sean McKeon, per Jon Machota. That means Josh Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot both outplayed the veteran.
  13. Cowboys waived C/G Braylon Jones, per Michael Gehlken. Took reps at multiple OL positions this preseason.
  14. Cowboys released OT Aviante Collins, per Michael Gehlken. He is not subject to waivers. If he doesn’t get picked up elsewhere, he could join the practice squad.
  15. Cowboys waive/injured both S Isaac Taylor-Stuart and RB Aaron Shampklin, per Todd Archer. Both were great contenders who got hurt during the preseason.
  16. Cowboys waived DL Josiah Bronson, per Michael Gehlken.
  17. Cowboys waived RB Malik Davis, per Michael Gehlken. Davis had an excellent preseason, but the Cowboys decided to keep three RBs and prioritized Rico Dowdle.
  18. Cowboys waived UDFA S Juanyeh Thomas, per Michael Gehlken. Again, a crowded safety room. Thomas had the game-winning interception against Seattle.
  19. Cowboys cut K Brett Maher, per Michael Gehlken. A procedural move so that the team can clear space for IR moves.
  20. Cowboys release LS Jake McQuaide and C.J. Goodwin, per Todd Archer. Both are seen as procedural moves as well.
  21. Cowboys have released BOTH backup QBs Will Grier and Cooper Rush, per Todd Archer. Rush will not go through waivers but Grieg will.
  22. Cowboys waive OL Issac Alarcon, per Michael Gehlken. The International Player Pathway Program suffered an unfortunate setback when injuring himself vs. Seattle.
  23. Cowboys have released LB Malik Jefferson, per Michael Gehlken. The former Texas Longhorn was added during training camp and is a hopeful for the practice squad.

Other roster moves made by the Cowboys:

  1. The Cowboys are expected to place rookie LB Damone Clark on the Reserve/NFI List, per Todd Archer. The LSU product had neck surgery this spring and isn’t expected to play much, if at all, this season.
  2. The Cowboys are expected to keep both James Washington and Michael Gallup on the 53-man roster.
